Hi, I’m Jim, a creative director and concept-driven brand designer with a high strategic understanding and a keen eye for design craft. I have been creating culturally influential and engaging communications projects for the last 25 years.
I have shaped brand experiences, created campaigns, crafted identities, produced content, developed platforms, filmed documentaries, built environments, launched products, published mags and curated art shows for some of the world’s core corporate and consumer brands.
Driven by clear and considered creative solutions I strive to be progressive and relevant in challenging the boundaries of how brands manifest, act and develop. I combine design thinking with high creative intelligence and deep business understanding that drives responses and emotions that attract attention. I have a track record of meeting deadlines and effectively exploring and communicating the ‘big idea’.
I arrived in Sydney, Australia from the UK in 2006 to become Creative Director of Peer Group Media, holders of Australia’s largest commercial rights festival portfolio. Here I connected a variety of high profile brands with prominent Australian music, arts, sports and lifestyle events. I developed, produced, directed and designed campaigns for Tooheys: UncharTED and The LAB, Jack Daniels: Live Music Awards, Bacardi: Bacardi Express and Kirin: GoFontUrSelf to name a few.
I spent my previous 10 years working in some of London’s top design and
advertising agencies where I also founded creative agency Milk Communications,
a multi-disciplinary design studio. Its agenda was to create experiential initiatives
and blend the evolving spectrum of digital culture with design, architecture,
advertising, film and publishing. Milk engendered projects that broke conventions
for clients including Harrods, Sony, Smirnoff, MTV, The British Council, Nike, Adidas
and Channel 4. It was here that I produced ‘Size Isn’t Everything’ the trainer book.
I currently run my own studio in sunny Sydney where I undertake projects directly
with global brands or small startups but am also available for freelance with
creative agencies on-site or remotely. I enjoy team guidance, empowering young creatives and collaborating whenever possible and am able to draw on a vast network of talented creatives specific to the needs of each project.
